Sexual Response Cycle

Four major components of the sexual response cycle

1. Desire;
2. Excitement;
3. Orgasm;
4. Resolution.

Excitement

- Occurs when the spinal cord releases nerve impulses that travel to the vaginal nerve endings, leading to increased blood flow to the genital tissues and vascular engorgement of the clitoris.
- Lubrication also occurs in this phase as a result of vascular engogement.
- In order for a woman to become sexually aroused, nitric oxide (NO) has to be released from nerve endings and endothelial ceels, cells that line the circulatory system.
- The L-arginine in Volupta acts as substrate for the release of nitric oxide in the clitoris.
